Load of Rubbish!

Rubbish!

It’s a fact of every day life. Man, like any form of life produces waste products. Unlike other forms of life on the planet we produce waste that can’t be broken down or used as a food source by other life forms. We produce Rubbish. Mountains of it, New Zealanders throw approximately 3.5 tonnes of it away each year. The incredible thing is that 65% of this can be recycled! This is not just a townie thing either. Farmers contribute to pollution as well. The problem farmer’s face is there is no curb side collection, especially when you live two hours drive out a windy gravel road in a remote part of the South Island. Farmers are faced with burying or burning their waste. Many of the products burnt are very toxic to the environment. Things like silage bale wrap. No point in burying it, it won’t break down. One company have come up with a solution, they supply the wrap and have come up with a way of recycling it.
Agpac NZ. They have produced a bin and liner system that will hold a large amount of wrap that can be bagged tied and stored for later pickup.

No more wraps left lying around looking messy and no more polluting the atmosphere with toxic smoke from burning.
Good on Agpac and good on those farmers with enough environmental conscience to use the system. If you haven’t heard of it till now then got to Agpac’s Website and take a look.

  • The local dump, woops landfill site, is hidden behind a hill and the road is fenced and gated. No doubt to prevent recycling! But what have they got to hide? What is happening to our country and where did that green image go? We can change. But only if we want to.
