What: Hort/Vit Labour Strategy 2010 Launch Function
Where: Turnbull House, Bowen Street, Wellington
When: March 15, 2010 from 5pm (Minister speaking at 5.30pm)
Five years ago the horticulture and viticulture industries sat down with the Government and the Council of Trade Unions to work out how they could work together better, to help industry get the seasonal and skilled staff it needed, at the right times.
The first Hort/Vit Labour Strategy in 2005 encouraged a true partnership and allowed understanding of industry, government and employee requirements. One of the results was the development of the successful Recognised Seasonal Employer programme, which is now the envy of other nations.
Now it is time to move on to the next phase, identifying the industry needs and opportunities for future employment.
The Hort/Vit Labour Strategy 2010 document will be officially launched by the Minister of Social Development and Employment, Hon. Paula Bennett, on Monday evening. On Tuesday an all-day workshop is being run by the National Labour Governance Group to start putting the strategy into practice.
