We have enjoyed a nice lawn (not flash just nice to look at) for over 35 years on various properties. 9 years ago we researched and trialled many brands within our price budget ($5K) We finally selected a John Deer LX188 with blower catcher and a 48inch cutting deck. Very happy with this until age and dexterity made lifting the full 35+KG collection bags for emptying. So did some more research and decided to stick with the John Deer XR500 with 48" deck and mulch kit. After 15months of frustration often directed to the somewhat bewilderd suppliers we have thrown the mulch kit away and now use the standard blade. Would we recommend A mulch kit JD for the Waikato - no!
