Just wondering how many people have heard of Natural Horsemanship but don't know where to start or where to get information from. Have you heard the term but don't know what it means?

Yes lots of reputable people out there practising, but unfortunately lots of people who know a little and not enough. Natural horsemanship works on the principle of psychological pressure and physical pressure but the most important thing being when to 'release' the pressure when the horse gives to you. I would highly recommend from personal experience Gavin Morrison from the Wairarapa area, dont know what area you are in but if you google him and get his contact details (may only have one R in his surname, cant remember) he may be able to put you onto someone in your area. You need to learn this properly or have a reputable person deal with your horse - lots of blow hards out there who do more damage than good - beware...

I think you are completely right there. As trainers, my husband and I are often sent horses that have developed problems or issues in their training. We have had a few cases where horses have been sent here totally confused by owners practising natural horsemanship, one horse was so bad she became dangerous to handle. Natural Horsemanship has to be completelly understood to be carried out correctly. It certainly has its benefits and can achieve great things, but one needs to make sure they are under good, professional supervision when starting out.
